ABOUT
ASAF 3.0 is a contemporary piano trio based in Israel, and led by pianist and composer Asaf Finkelstein, with Eyal Matri on bass and Sharon Petrover on drums. The trio playes highly melodic and personal original music, with a variety of influences, ranging from traditional jazz and classical music, to progressive rock and local styles.
Asaf Finkelstein is a pianist, composer, arranger and educator. He is a graduate of
Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and “Rimon” school of jazz and contemporary music
in Israel. Among his most influencial teachers were JoAnne Brackeen, Bob Winter and Laszlo Gardony.
As an arranger, he writes both instrumental and vocal music in a variety of styles.
Asaf has been a faculty member at Rimon school since 2012.
Eyal Matri is a double bass and electric bass player, an educator, and a composer. He studied at the "Thelma-Yellin" School of arts and "Rimon" School of jazz & contemporary music, and completed his studies for bachelor of music degree at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, where he studied with Prof. Michael Klinghoffer. Eyal also writes and produces music for theater, animation, and films, and is currently working on his own music project.
Sharon Petrover is a versatile and sought after drummer. He is a master of many styles and genres, having played and toured with Israel's top talents such as Din-Din Aviv and Gabi Shushan. In theatre, he has played in Israel's main venues and productions, including a two month run of "Zorro" in Shanghai. Sharon is a member of the progressive rock band "Project RNL", the Mekhilta Ensemble, which revives the sound of ancient Persian instruments, and many more.
